The Story Behind
Our Free-From Cakes...
It all started with my niece, as she has suffered from IBS for a number of years and is unable to tolerate foods with dairy and gluten. And as much as she enjoys eating my cakes she knew it could potentially be a risk, yet she would keep eating them anyway.
I found this to be a similar occurrence when I would attend my farmers' markets, as a number of customers would pass by and comment on how nice the cakes looked and would try our tasters but was unfortunately not able to buy them.
It was especially sad when kids would come along but their parents were not able to buy any cakes for them due to their child being gluten, dairy intolerant, celiac or vegan.
Because of all these experiences I've had with all these lovely people and of course my niece, I decided I needed to explore creating cakes people with different food intolerances could eat.
This process took me years to perfect, and I can tell you, I've had a number of disasters, with many of the cakes hitting the bin, but I'm so happy I stuck with it, a lot of time, testing and research went into finding products that could be used as substitutes to dairy and gluten while also retaining the same level of delicious flavour. And I will continue to experiment with all the different and new products out there as I'm always striving to deliver the highest quality cakes in more flavours!
And I'm pleased to say I now have a product that I am so very proud of and is enjoyed by my customers and my niece!
